The air was thick and warm with the smell of cinnamon, vanilla, and almond. Something inside of her, something innate, long dead from neglect bloomed to life again. The warmth of the sugar and spices seeped inside of her, filling her back up with a piece of home she had almost forgotten. Memories of sweet rolls, cakes, and cookies filled her mind. Her mother covered in flour up to her elbows. Her own face and fingers sticky with stolen treats.
